IT'S A BOY!!!
IT'S A BOY!!! We found out two weeks ago and things have been nuts!! We are so excited!! His name is Jack!! Everything looks great at the ultrasound. I have to go back next week just so they can take some better pics of his heart. He was breech the day of the ultrasound so the Dr. couldn't get a good picture of the heart..lol He also had his legs crossed so I'm not sure how we were so lucky to have him open his legs...but he did!!
We are so blessed and happy!!
I promise to keep you posted!

Big week coming up
So less than a week away we have our 20 wk ultrasound. Do you know what that means? Well, it means that they check the baby to make sure everything looks right. It also means we get to find out if it is a boy or girl!! So place your bets now! This is so exciting! I am feeling the baby kick more and more everyday. I went "window" shopping with my mom today to look at baby furniture. It was so much fun! Besides the ultrasound withe perinatologist we also have to visit the regular OB. I am dropping the "bomb" that I am going with the Bradley Method which is natural child birth. I am pretty sure my group will be cool with it. I do not want to have an epidural nor do I want to be attached to monitors and IV's. I also want the baby with me 24/7 no taking him/her away.
This weekend I have my yoga teacher training so it is going to go by fast! I can not wait for next week!!
Love, Maria

Yoga Teacher Training
So, the best thing I have done so far in this pregnancy is start my yoga teacher/therapist training. It is a six month program and I graduate a few days before the baby is born. I am blessed to be studying at Kula Kamala Yoga in Lakehurst. My teacher Sharon is an amazing woman. I think this experience is so great for the baby too. Not only the physical portion of the yoga but the peacefulness, the meditation and the chanting. Plus it has to make it easier for childbirth. My classes run every other weekend Friday nights and Saturday and Sunday from 12-8pm. I am very thankful to Ed for supporting me in doing this class. Without his support I wouldn't have done it.
Yoga does a body good inside and out.
Namaste.

Last Doctors appointment
WOW! I've been slacking with this blog! I was at the doctor over two weeks ago. Everything is going as planned. I've been learning so much from the Bradley Method so the next visit I'm going to have a lot of questions for my doctor. Plus I'm working on my birthing plan with Ed so our wishes are clear. I'm feeling the baby move a lot today. It kind of tickles a bit. Sleeping at night is not so great! I guess this is God's way of preparing me for no sleep once the baby arrives!
We find out if we are having a girl or boy on October 15. I can not wait to know. I initially thought a girl and kind of still do. However, everyone but my mom thinks it's a boy. It should be interesting to find out.
Sorry for the late update. Promise to keep you posted on the October 15th visit!

Birthing Class
So, last night we went to our first birthing class. I'm choosing to go natural so as a recommendation from my friend Maria we are doing The Bradley Method. We have about 8 weeks of this class and I learned sooo much last night. I'm really excited we chose this method. Tomorrow I have my monthly visit and I am dreading the fact that they have to draw more blood...YUK!!
Talk to you soon!

Baby Bump
Well, it's here! A small little baby bump! Although, a lot of people say I don't really look pregnant, those who see me a lot notice the baby bump right away. It's amazing how great I feel now!! I'm so excited! I'm still a bit tired but who cares at least I am not nauseous anymore!
I should put some pics up this week for everyone to see the actual baby bump.
We have our monthly doctors appointment next week which is always exciting. In a way it makes it feel more real...lol
Keep you posted!

Feeling great
Wow! I guess it is like everyone says...pretty much you just wake up one day and you feel better. The nausea has seemed to leave and I have a bit more energy, still sleepy but a lot better. I went to visit my friend Kelly yesterday and see her beautiful new baby Tiegan and she gave me the coolest thing to borrow! She gave me a medical doppler so I can hear the baby's heartbeat whenever I want at home! How cool! We did it last night and it was amazing. Ed had it and then I thought I felt something and the baby moved (we know this for sure because Ed had to move the doppler). So cool!! I also did the chinese calendar and it says girl but last night we did the swinging crystal and it said boy! I guess we just have to wait until Oct. 15 to find out!
I went bra shopping today since everything I own does not fit right. I was almost in denial with it. Unfortunately, I am already a 32E! WTF? Maybe I should dress up like a cow for Halloween. I hope this is the end of it and I can wear the three bras I bought today for most of the pregnancy. I do have to admit, I finally feel comfortable. I guess I didn't realize how uncomfortable I was before.
Good news I am going to get use out of my clothes for a bit. I bought a bella band a while ago and just decided to use it! It is so nice because I can wear my regular jeans unbuttoned and they don't fall down. Plus you can't really tell. Hopefully, I can do this for the next month or two.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Keep you posted.
Love,
Maria

Looking great!
Today was a long visit but it was amazing!! We went in for our 12 week ultrasound. We had to go to a perinatal specialist because at this point they check for markers for down syndrome. Well...good news! Everything looks great...literally! It was amazing to see this little baby move around and squirm. I think he/she was even sucking their thumb at one point! You could see the face pretty clear! A cute little nose and full lips with Skinny little arms and legs. I promise to post the pics this weekend!
The visit took so long because the first ultrasound machine was to blurry and the the measurements were incorrect. When they redid it on the "good" machine I couldn't believe the difference. The doctor said everything looks perfect!! My due date is still March 3, 2010!
As for the nausea situation...I felt amazing yesterday and today not so amazing but as the evening came it all went away. I hope tomorrow is just like yesterday and no more nausea!! I can not wait until I feel this little angel. He/she was moving so much it was so cute. Ed was trying to bribe the ultrasound tech to tell us what she thought the gender was...lol Unfortunately, it is too early to tell but we will find out October 15 on our 20 week ultrasound.
Anyway, so much excitement for one week! I will keep everyone posted.
Lots of Love,
Maria

Heartbeat is pounding!
Went for my monthly visit today and I officially gained 4 lbs although my pants and hips are telling me something different. We also got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It was pounding hard and fast. I swore I was starting to feel the baby when I would rest on my left side but the baby is pretty much center and low still. The doctor told me that I may start to feel the baby by our next visit which is September 16.
It is all very exciting and so amazing! However, the next visit they have to draw more blood...yuk. They also have to check for some kind of Mediterranean thing because my family is Italian...blah blah blah. Just another reason to draw more blood I think..lol All my blood work came back perfect from the last visit so I am happy!
Tomorrow I go for a transnuchal ultrasound. Big words for a really sensitive ultrasound that allows the doctors to check spinal fluid behind the spine. Ultimately, it checks for downs syndrome. Like I said to the doctors, whatever the results are we are fine and content. I will not do an Amnio and I made that very very clear. I am actually excited to go because this ultrasound will be clearer than the first. Also, they did say sometimes they can see the sex at this point. One of the ultrasound techs told me it isn't really accurate until 20 wks. So we will see what happens.
I know I promised to get the first picture up so I promise after tomorrow's picture I will put both pics up on this site. I will mess with my scanner and get it to work.
Well, until tomorrow have a great rest of the day! I know I will!
Lots of love,
Maria

Big Week Ahead
Wow, this is going to be a big week for us. Just finishing up 1st trimester and have two doctors appointments. One with my regular OB/GYN and the other with a specialist to take a special ultrasound to make sure everything is A-OK with this little baby.
Things seem to be moving along as they should. I am still a bit nauseous but nothing like the past month or so. I am still completely exhausted! I just don't have any energy. I came home from work today and watered some flowers and pulled some weeds and I am shot!!
Anyway, keep you posted on all the good Doctor visits!

Nausea may be slowly going away!
So..it's week 10 and I have to say, I woke up this am only a little sick. Hmmm... maybe this whole tale of it leaving by the end of the first trimester is true! However, why do I look like I have a beer gut?!?! Say good bye to my abs and hello to beer gut. It's like the awkward stage of puberty...lol. My pants are tight on my belly that I actually leave the button open at times. What is going on?!?!? I thought this started to happen in the later part of the 2nd trimester!! lol
Anyway, tight pants or not I am so very happy. My friend Kelly gave birth to her first child yesterday. Today she told me to enjoy every second, even the sickness because what comes from it is sooo worth it. Pretty good advice.
The dogs have been acting a bit strange lately too. Sheba is eating anything she can find...including our good friend Nate's wallet! Tank is completely in love with me. Follows me, cuddles with me all kinds of sweetness. Somehow I think they know...maybe they can smell it or hear it. Who knows. Whatever the case it is sooo cute.
This has been a rough week so I am looking forward to the weekend and relaxing. Maybe the nausea will be gone next time I update. Please keep your fingers crossed!!!
Good night for now.

First Ultrasound Results
The results are in....one baby not twins!(I guess my theory was wrong...the mother's intuition hasn't kicked in yet!) The baby is perfect size and the heartbeat was 180bpm. It was truly amazing!! Ed and I were in complete awe! I think Ed may have been a bit freaked out because something is growing inside of me. It's kinda hard to grasp that whole concept. It freaked me out for a second too then I was just so happy! We got to see its little leg and arms move too. How crazy!!!
The nurse was kind enough to print us a picture. The little peanut looks like a blob right now but I will scan it and get it posted up asap.
After the ultrasound Eddie took me for a yummy lunch at Jersey Burger and we had some delicious blackbean burgers to celebrate!
Well, thats all for now! I'm going to try to catch in a nap while Eddie is at the Chiropractor.

Nausea - Morning Sickness - whatever you want to call it!
Ugghh..just when I thought I was feeling better nausea creeped its big old head in! I went through this entire morning feeling pretty good just a little sick. I had tons of energy and thought "Wow! This is going to be a great day!" I ran some errands met my friend Margaret for breakfast and come home to do some chores and blah...I'm sick and so tired. Holy smokes, I am looking forward to the day I get my energy back. Did I mention the pants the fit me last week I couldn't even button today?!?!?!? It's all moving so quickly and in a weird way I am enjoying every minute of it!! Is it a girl or boy? Who knows this is the week when the reproductive organs start to form. Is it twins?? We will know for sure tomorrow!
Bye for now, I'm going to sneek in a nap!

Welcome
Hello and welcome to the Baby Bump Bio. We decided to create this blog to keep family and friends up to date on our growing baby! So if you didn't know...Ed and I are expecting our first child in March. After a year and a half of trying and one miscarriage we pretty much gave up. We just decided that we would look into adoption (which we still are considering) and voila I got pregnant! It was a total shock and was not expected at all.
So, this is our 9 week mark and I am still feeling pretty sick. Nausea for most of the day which everyone says is a healthy sign of pregnancy. I pretty much have to eat little meals all through out the day to keep ahead of the nausea! This week I noticed that either I am getting used to the nausea or maybe it is getting a bit better! I'm keeping my fingers crossed because it is not fun! Besides the nausea I am completely exhausted pretty much 24/7! I fall asleep the minute my head hits the pillow and if I don't take a nap at some point I am pretty much sleep walking. All in all it is worth every sick and tired feeling to know we have been blessed with a child.
Last week was my first official doctors visit and everything looks perfect! The doctor said my uterus feels full (duh doc I know that!). This Wednesday we have our first ultrasound which will be our official 9 week mark. I'm looking forward to seeing this little being growing inside of me. I've also been thinking I may be having twins (my grandmother had twins and three psychics told me I was going to have twins). So we will know a few things for sure on Wednesday, whether or not we are having twins and a somewhat more exact due date. As of right now my due date is March 3, but things can change I have heard :)
So please subscribe to our blog as we will be updating weekly and sometimes daily. We will also be adding pictures! What a better way for those far away to follow the journey with us.
We would love to hear your comments as well so please feel free to comment below each post.
Lots of Love - Maria and Ed
